Unwanted pregnancy is always a sensitive issue for a woman. Some women prefer to keep it as private as possible. Dr. Zilberstein provides the termination of pregnancy with a help of an abortion pill which can be carried out in the privacy of one’s home.
An abortion pill, Mifiprex, Mifiprestone, or RU 486, is a medication which blocks progesterone, a hormone which is necessary for a pregnancy to continue.
A patient who is seeking a termination of pregnancy with the abortion pill takes it on the day of the visit.
The following day, a patient takes another medication which helps the uterus to expel the pregnancy.
Dr. Zilberstein performs a ultrasound first to determine if a patient is a right candidate (it can be carried out until 49th day of pregnancy), and then carefully goes through the whole process to make sure that all the questions are answered and the process is carried out properly.
